The British Shorthair cat breed first appeared in Great Britain in the 19th century. The average weight of a cat is 3-7 kg. Life expectancy is on average 14-16 years, in some cases, these cute animals live longer. In the 19th century British Shorthair cats took part in the first cat show in London and immediately won the hearts of aristocrats with their plush soft fur coats and a naive look.
The British shorthair has everything that cat owners love. This feline looks like a teddy bear with its round head, chubby cheeks, robust legs and well-groomed body. Its large expressive eyes in the classic shades of the breed are amber yellow, while the valuable breeds’ eyes’ color ranges from green, emerald to bluish. The British cat stands out with its short, dense, velvety and rich coat. The shades of the breed have quite a large palette: lilac, blue, chocolate, black, cinnamon, cream, beige, silver, gold and others.
